GAIL's Bakery

BB Contracts and Holland Harvey Architects, London

Continuing our long-term relationship with GAIL’s Bakery, these works involved the refurbishment of a number of stores across London. We worked closely with our partners at BB Contracts and Holland Harvey Architects to realise the client’s vision – fabricating bespoke seating, shelving, tables and serving counters.

The design stage involved the development of 3D CAD models, which allowed our team to flesh out architectural sketches and generate an efficient fabrication methodology.

In the studio, our CNC router facilitated fast, precise and cost-effective fabrication. Each service counter involved machining over 30 sheets of material, with the processed sheets then being hand finished and edgebanded in either oak, white melamine or stainless steel trim.

Bespoke details add quality to these deceptively simple pieces, including bread shelves with inset LED lighting.  Wall-mounted backrests were upholstered in raw leather hide and finished with custom-produced leather straps and brass fixings.

Hardwood counters and table tops with flowing curves were also CNC cut before being finished with a custom wood stain, developed in-house to meet the architect’s specification. Table bases and shelving brackets were fabricated in steel and given a rustic blackened finish.
