Paperwork and the Will of Capital

Taryn Simon / Big Soda, London, 2016

We were approached by local art fabrication and installation specialists Big Soda to make the steelwork for a series of sculptural objects by artist Taryn Simon.  Having developed an initial prototype for the artist, we went on to batch produce ten intricate blackened steel constructions.

The blackened steel structures were welded and finished in-house. We worked with our partners at Miber Engineering, who machined the bespoke hinge components to our specification.

In the final assembly, the steel cages support suspended cement blocks that display the artist’s photographs. ‘Paperwork and the Will of Capital’ was first shown at the 2015 Venice Biennale. The work has subsequently been exhibited at Gagosian Gallery in Italy and New York.
