This bespoke mezzanine was designed by Casper Mueller Kneer for a private residence in east London, featuring blackened steel mesh with iroko and brass details. Integrated shelving and fitted joinery are finished in iroko hardwood with a custom stain. Beginning with the architect’s visualisation and material specifications, our team developed a fabrication methodology for retrofitting the structure into the existing architecture.

Prefabricated steel sections were blackened in the studio before being welded together on site. Curved iroko sections were fabricated on our CNC machine to complete the handrail. Bespoke brass connectors were machined on our lathe to make a feature of the connection between the handrail and waterjet-cut steel uprights.
Along with the mezzanine structure, we also created custom sliding doors and fitted furniture. Fabricated in iroko to match throughout, inset brass plate adds detail to the door handles.
