Inspired by his experience of Weber Industries’ working processes and the changing nature of their adaptable work space, Lee Seongyong has devised a series of modular structures whose numerous components define a range of possible functions. This system combines the fundamental principles of Weber Industries’ bespoke manufacturing process identified by Seongyong – adaptability, craftsmanship and cooperation – with the efficiency of prefabricated design.
With its focus on design inspired by careful consideration of fabrication processes, Weber Industries x Lee Seongyong Design proposes a blueprint for future approaches to British-based manufacturing. We envisage this project as a platform for discussion around how the city informs design practices, as well as the specific challenges for London-based industry.
